Deep Creek Public Day Use Fee Range:
In 1980 the Hellgate Civilian Shooters Association (HCSA), and Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks (MFWP) started the process to create the facility at Deep Creek, using range development grants from MFWP.
For those shooters who want a safe, well-equipped facility to occasionally sight in that new gun or bring the family or friends for a fun day of shooting, we offer our public day use range.
The beautiful Deep Creek canyon provides shelter with little wind and steady temperatures which provides for the best shooting conditions in the Northwest.
You’ll find plenty of room to shoot with no crowding or waiting times but keep in mind that the month leading up to opening big game season can be very busy with everyone blowing the dust off old reliable and preparing for the fall hunt.
The range use fee is very affordable at $5.00 per day per shooter. Payment is due at the sign in hut before entering the day use range on the left side of the sign in hut. Cash is not kept on the premise so making change for large bills at the range isn’t possible so please arrive with the exact dollar fee.
The public day use range is open on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Hours are 9:00 am until 7:00 pm or ½ hour before sunset whichever comes first. (See sunset chart for Missoula located at the footer of this page)
Children under 15 must be accompanied and supervised by an adult. Both may not shoot at the same time due to safety concerns while training young shooters.
Eye and ear protection is required.

200 Yard Rifle/Pistol Range
The 200 yard range has 24 concrete bench rests with adjustable seats and target boards at 25,50,100 and 200 yards. The left half of the range has target stands from 25 yards to 100 yards geared towards pistol and smaller rifles at shorter distances.
